Energy Talk Podcast – Episode 18
Cherryland has some of the highest reliability scores in our region. We also have one of the most aggressive tree trimming programs. Find out how these things are related and how they affect you when we sit down with our Safety Director and Line Superintendent, Jim Carpenter, to discuss tree trimming.
The tree trimming information was helpful in Episode 18, in understanding what will take place when a person’s trees are going to be trimmed. What would be helpful and seems to be missing on the mailer is this url to get a better understanding. When the tree trimmers and Jim too, speak with a customer the attitude is matter of fact and didn’t ask if you liked or not. Many home owners like myself, didn’t plant the trees and evergreens that are now a problem. From my understanding thirty years ago Cherryland didn’t inform homeowners of proper plants to grow in the powerline area. Now Cherryland has the funding and contractors to do the work and the homeowner is treated like it’s their fault that there plant has to be chopped. Chopping trees and evergreens is not the answer, it opens the opportunity for disease and death when we are at an all-time high of deforestation. Chopping the trees is a temporary fix that will only open the doors to new problems. Educating people on what to do and how to do is needed. I realize that with the bill that is sent out, there is some information about proper planting. Being a bit more understanding to the homeowner at this time is extremely important.
I’ve considered pruning back a few trees and their roots as well as removing dead or dying branches injured before it was too late
Tree trimming is indeed a critical aspect of maintaining reliable power supply, and I appreciate the focus on safety in your article. As a tree service expert, I often emphasize the importance of proactive tree trimming to prevent potential power outages caused by branches interfering with power lines. It’s great to see how Cherryland is prioritizing reliability through their aggressive tree trimming program. Proper tree maintenance not only enhances safety but also ensures uninterrupted power for the community. Keep up the good work in promoting safety and reliability!
